Rubies and Sapphires are both corundum and essentially the same, with the exception of color. The presence of chromium gives rubies their red color while sapphires stay mostly blue. They have a hardness of 9-only a diamond is harder.
Some of these have very faint “stars.” These pictures were taken in bright sunlight; however their colors shift depending on the light.
